Do you have a passion to work with families and children AND are you committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and want nothing but the best for them?

Check out the rewarding career working in Child Welfare! With your wonderful ability to help others, you will have the opportunity to make foster placements, recruit foster families, investigate complaints of abuse or neglect, and provide services to help unite families. Child Welfare Caseworkers can work for the state or local government, as well as schools to ensure children have a safe home and family. Additionally, Child Welfare Caseworkers may be required to attend court hearings, arrange for and facilitate visitation among family members, and handle other administrative duties.

If this sounds appealing to you, check out CEHD's degrees in Early Childhood Education, Youth Studies or Family Social Science to put you on the path to this rewarding career. Be sure to gain experiences such as internships and volunteering related to this area of child welfare, to make yourself a good candidate for these jobs. Although many Child Welfare Caseworkers have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, many go on to pursue their Master's degree as well.
