Description & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Online Communications, the Associate, Communications will be responsible for helping to effectively communicate Ceres? work to the outside world and increase its profile in the business and mainstream press. ??This is a full-time position based in Boston, MA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Overall maintenance of Ceres suite of websites (ceres.org, incr.com and ceres.org/bicep) including posting of new content, news items, press releases, job announcements, etc as directed by the Manager of Online Communications.
  • Manage Ceres social media networks, including Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Write, build and distribute Ceres? email communications, including monthly e-newsletter and other email blasts.
  • Manage Ceres email database, including maintaining email subscription lists, running data queries and segmenting lists, coordinating updates with Ceres? organizational database.
  • Prepare regular web statistics reports with the Senior Manager of Online Communications
  • Work with Senior Manager of Online Communications, to provide support to staff about using and updating the Ceres websites
  • Coordinate monthly meetings with Ceres program teams to review and update web content
  • With Director of Communications, organize logistics and agenda for Communication Team meetings, including taking notes and tracking activity/deliverables
  • Review Ceres organization calendar on monthly basis and assist Director in developing a Communications plans for responding to upcoming events, reports and activities
  • Manage and update media contact list for Communications Team
  • Provide administrative support to Communications Team on press releases and large media events
  • Track all (internal and external) press releases that mention Ceres and collect in report form to present to funders, donors, and Ceres staff
  • Coordinate logistics for members of the press attending the Ceres annual Conference or similar events
  • Provide some writing support in drafting press releases and outreach materials
  • Provide administrative support on special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree or 5 years of work experience required
  • 1-2 years of direct professional experience in communications or public relations preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, preferred
  • Organized individual who can focus on specific details and the large picture at the same time
  • Web editing experience required
  • Basic familiarity with HTML and CSS
  • Experience with photo editing software such as Photoshop or Illustrator
  • General understanding of web standards and internet user trends and requirements
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental and sustainability issues,
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; must be a self-starter
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office Suite
